The Solution

Following a site survey and Relux modelling exercise, Earlsmann’s Portsmouth non-corrosive LED lighting units were selected to replace both the standard and emergency fittings.

The Portsmouth unit meets the requirements of the BS 5489 road lighting code of practice, and provides good uniformity and light levels.

Earlsmann were also able to modify its standard Portsmouth fittings to add tamper-proof clips that require a tool to unclip the diffuser. This helps to prevent vandals from damaging the fittings, reducing long-term maintenance costs.

Benefits

Safe and welcoming environment

Good lighting has a huge impact on how users perceive car park safety. The new LED lighting means the car park is now bright and well-lit, creating an environment that is welcoming for users. Efficient and reliable

The highly efficient and reliable lighting minimises the need for maintenance, creating savings and allowing the local authority to focus its resources more effectively.

Investment rewarded with quick payback

For this lighting upgrade, Medway Council took advantage of Salix funding, an interest free loan that enables public sector organisations to install energy efficient projects.

The new LED lighting provides impressive savings of up to 65% from day one – easily paying back their investment within five-years.
