Wi-Fi upgraded at MHS residential care homes

The Brief

MHS Homes are the largest independent landlord in Kent. They own more than 8,500 properties and build hundreds more every year. They asked NCS Technology to supply and install wireless access points (APs) across 20 of their residential care homes and to source a cloud-based management system that would enable easy and remote access to the APs.

Prior to the installation, each of the care homes had a BT ADSL line, that struggled to cope with the 250+ users on the network.

The Solution

NCS installed a XIRRUS Cloud Management portal, with XIRRUS wireless APs. This solution meant MHS Homes had a uniformed wireless system across their care homes that could be managed centrally through the cloud-based interface.

The Benefits

The new XIRUSS APs and cloud managed Wi-Fi give MHS Homes more visibility and a less complex overall network. They can now monitor and configure all of their wireless access points remotely, from one location.

The solution is not only easy to manage, it also means residents can now use their own devices to access the internet. This has created the environment for better digital inclusion, and increased social engagement and communication between residents and their families.
